As most of you know, CHOSH was formed in part, because of the lack of accurate information about our Board, the actions it takes and why, being provided by our HOA Board through the Information Advisory Committee over the past 2 years. We believe that misinformation divides our community. We believe the better informed our homeowners are, the stronger and more united our community becomes.
For the past two years we have provided factual information to homeowners, on a timely basis. And many of you came to rely upon us for that information. But CHOSH should not really be the source of accurate information about what the HOA Board is doing, or even a place to ask questions – according to California law providing information to all homeowners is to be the function of the Board.
We just learned yesterday that a new Information Advisory Committee has been formed by the Board. We are hoping that this committee will return to functioning as it was originally intended – to provide homeowners with factual information on a timely basis about what our HOA Board is doing, how it does it, what actions it has taken and why through social media outlets.
The difference between the IAC and the CAC, is that the IAC provides news/factual information. The community website was built for the purpose of delivering substantive, factual news to our community. It is a newspaper blog; letting you know if a tree is down, or there is a fire somewhere in the community, or a missing homeowner, explaining to you how contracts negotiations are handled by the Board, simple explanations about our financial status, new purchases, what vendors we contracted with for what services and why, how we compare with other communities in the Coachella Valley, our safety record, the overseeding schedule, etc. and for answering you questions and ensuring your comments and questions are heard by this Board.
The CAC handles the VIEW, the community magazine.
Knowing the Board has appointed new members to the IAC, we will cease providing substantive factual information on this CHOSH website to homeowners as of today, 5.31.18 while the IAC gets back to work properly performing that function.
